Monday August 18, 2008 - VBS

Today we started our Summer 2008 VBS. The first day went very well with many decisions to accept Christ.Viergetha, one of our children ministry leaders also presented the gospel last weekend in Oriani (in a leaders retreat) to about 80 children of the village and 30 of them made the decision to accept Jesus-Christ as their savior.

Retreat in the mountains- Temperature: the 40s

From August 14th to the 17th many folks from Calvary Chapel Port-au-Prince acompanied Edy and I to a leaders retreat in Oriani in the mountains near the Pine forest.
Edy spoke on the Mission of the Church and I spoke on the Character of a Christian Leader and on the Spiritual Gifts. We had a few prayer meetings and we fasted Saturday morning until 1pm.
Many of the leaders present confessed their sins and asked for prayers and forgiveness.
Sunday morning, Edy taught on Acts chapters 1 and 2 and people prayed to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
I came back on Saturday night right after the tropical storm to be ready for Sunday morning service while a few of our folks came back last night along with Edy.

2 More Baptisms after church service today

The plastic pool was still filled with water, so we invited people to get baptized after church service today if they accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and want to obey His command to water baptize. Stephanie from the medical school Bible study and Bernadino from the neighborhood answer the call. He had to borrow clothes from us to get baptized. God provides in all kind of ways.
We taught today on Acts chapter 8: Philippe, from server to evangelist, focused on preaching Jesus-Christ and the kingdom of God. So should we, accepting the lordship of Jesus is always followed by baptism. Even though the Bible makes it clear that new believers should not be raised too quickly in leadership, we need to understand that we are a nation of priests. To make the point today, I invited Emmanuel who got baptized yesterday to assist me today in baptizing the 2 new candidates.

Last Week of Camp: God is great!

Summer Bible Boot Camp: A tremendous success

I am really amazed of what the Word of God can do in a such a short period of time. It is one thing to know it and believe it but it is yet another thing to actually see it. Some of these young adults had a totally turn around in 4 weekends.

We had a prayer meeting today in order to thank God for the wonderful work He started in them and this is the dearest moment so far in the life of the ministry. They confessed their sins, they repented of the wrong doings in their lives, some shared of their commitment since coming to CC PaP or since the camp to be sexually pure with their boyfriends/girlfriends, to reconcile with parents they hated all their lives, etc. We cried out to God and gave Him our lives, our weaknesses, our failures, our all.

2 students from the medical school bible study got baptized today as well making the number of baptisms this week to 13.
We had an After-Glow at the end of the prayer meeting asking God to fill us all with the Holy Spirit. It was such a wonderful time. Glory to God in the highest.
